Climatopia is a concept by Alizé Carrère envisioning climate-responsive, sociopolitically transformed built environments. Inspired by this idea, this design envisions a future subtropical coastal region for 2224. Drastic sea level rise and storms necessitated urban islands surrounded by wilderness, connected by high-speed trains. Buildings mimic dune formations for wind mitigation, use renewable energy, and feature shared systems. Land ownership shifts to community land trusts, fostering affordable housing and communal care. Social structures emphasize community bonds, while economic and political systems prioritize environmental harmony and balance over growth. See Journal section of this website to read more about it.
